To business owners, here is how you can help current university students today!

The post Covid-19 & post AI graduate market has hurt the youngest adult generation the most and we have not seen the full effects of it yet. 

With weekly headlines from major new sources such as the BBC listing X number of graudate schemes applied to for another unsuccessful round of applications, it's a bleak viewpoint for a generation that is chronically online to see this polarising feed. 

So why can companies do in 2026 to effectively provide more opportunities to young people without breaking the bank? 

Some context, this is written by a 22 year old company owner who has hired a team of 6 to help run a marketing / careers consultancy company. Of the 6 staff members total the collective age of the company is roughly 130. 

Our oldest team member is my older brother & co-founder who is 24, born in 2001 he really is getting close to the retirement age. 

We've hired in the last 18 months the following: 

• Social media representative - why? 

Who else has more understanding of social media marketing in 2026 than a 20 something year old creative student who spends their spare time editing videos to make the colour look nicer or a 50 year old MBA holder who used to make killer billboards in 1980?

•  Sales specialist - why ? 

This should be a role that EVERY company committees the 5 hours at £15 per hour or £13 + commission, simply to have a high energy young person who can learn how to sell whatever it is you to through methods you've not even thought of.

For such a minimal cost it's a great bet to make! Within their first few weeks with us, we started getting contracts in the US & UAE without any lead-gen needed from us. 

•  Delivery Assistant - why? 

This is niched for service based businesses but if you are in one of the following type businesses and do not have a university student on a small time contract, you are missing out on the flexibility they provide:

Most business owners hiring only full-time staff will not get people who will work consistent anti-social hours, but university students operate on a totally different calendar, it's not Saturday nights out, it's Wednesday, it's not 9 am to 5 pm shifts, it's 6 pm to 1 am shifts.
